I believe all EV BFFs are 2nd Gen.

ETA: I may be wrong on that. The EV BFF picture in Shop JJB is 1st gen, but their pics could be of prototypes.

No, seriously, I have an ev bff and it is a really pretty and elegant bag, I think it will work well for you travelling. I think Kelly uses her BFF for travelling a lot.

I bought a 1st gen SW BFF recently (without backpack straps)....just to keep knitting in.... so in a way it's new to me...I've never carried a BFF out of the house. I bought DD a CoB BFF last year and she loves it for the two kids. This will be the first EV bag for me...all I have is a coin purse in it....excited to see it in a bigger bag. I love my Safari BP for weekends at the cottage and have used it to fly...but it is a bit bulky and heavy, after a while. I think the BFF will be great to wear backpack and just wheel my luggage, in the airport. desperately trying to convince myself I need it... my birthday is next week so that's another good reason, right??

What's the difference in the 1st and 2nd gen?

The 2nd generation bags have two zipper pulls on the mommy pocket and the D rings for the backpack straps are higher up on the back of the bag (closer to the grab handle) so the bag hangs better when worn as a backpack.
