Why didn't you give birth the "real" way?
At 35 weeks, my placenta stopped functioning. We knew that Sophia had to come out, but our doctor didn't think that she could make it though a long induction and labor (my body just wasn't ready yet). So, we had a c-section. After a week stay in the NICU, we finally brought our LO home. When one of our family members came to visit, she said "Well, I just don't understand why you didn't chose to give birth the real way." I guess I didn't know that having a spinal, major abdominal surgery, and then four weeks of recovery didn't count as "real" child birth. Definitely one of those moments where you politely smile and bite your tongue

Ugh! How annoying! The important things is that your baby and you are healthy and you still gave birth to her! I've had 2 c-sections since my induction failed and had non-progressive labor for two days. I hate those comments!

Having to go through all of that and then having a c-section on top of it must have been exhausting!

I had a vaginal (that was having problems progressing), then a failed induction 36 hours of labor with a C, and then a scheduled C. I think I'd take a live baby over a natural childbirth. We have a friend that lost her baby to placental insufficiency, the baby died during labor. Today, is her first birthday. You did exactly the right thing.

As a mom who hasn't had a c-section but has had abdominal surgery, all you who have had a c-section, I give you so much credit. You carried the baby, you have your precious baby, AND you have to recover from surgery. I'm glad I never had to do that and think you all are amazing for taking care of a baby AND recovering from surgery. As long as baby's here and got here safely, why should anyone care about HOW baby got there? C-section is real birth to me!

That's rough! I have had 2 c-sections and it's a different kind of birth but it is DEF real!

Re: Why didn't you give birth the "real" way?
I can't believe someone said that to you, just AWFUL. I had a c-section but no one has ever said anything to me about it, once and a while my husband and I joke about it but he was there and knows iin reality t's no laughing matter. At least we know it's about mom and baby getting through delivery in the safest way possible.

People can be so insensitive! It is so frustrating that people discount c-sections as "real" births. Good for you for holding your tongue. I'm not sure that I would have.

Re: Why didn't you give birth the "real" way?
a couple of my family members said the same thing. they think that i decided to have a c-section cuz i couldn't take the pain. I was in labor for day before my doctor decided for a c-section. My baby's heartbeat was going up and down so the doctor said that it was better to get him out. i was over 40 weeks already.
