Post BFF or BP? The final decision, and PICS!!!
I'm new to JJB, so I need some advice from the veterans :D I was pretty set on the BP, but as I watched more videos and looked at more pictures, I thought the BFF would be more what I want. I will be out and about with the bag at least 3 days a week, and I love the backpack option with the BFF--not too crazy about lugging around the BP  I'm definitely a minimalist--I plan to get a Be Major, which will hold all my stuff, so that leaves the "mommy pocket" mostly free for kids' stuff. But it's hard to be a minimalist when I have 3 kids in cloth diapers! (One will be PT soon.) That means 9 cloth diapers for a day trip to Grandma's--can the BFF handle it? Please tell me it can! :D

So after some trial and error, I finally found my bag!

Image

And just for fun, the cloth diapers I could fit! This is with everything else I carry, and I could have put a couple more CDs on top :D

Image

And we all know that JJBs are like Lays potato chips: You can't have just one!
So this is what came about in my search for a top-quality diaper bag. . .

The Mine and pacipod are DD's :D
I think I'm safe in saying that I'm happy with my little stash  But you know, I just realized how cute the micrabe is. . .

Second attempt--hope the pics show up!

I am the queen of justification so if the BFF is what you truly WANT, then I would rationalize a way to make it work at any cost. Like, keep spare change of clothes for the kids stored in Quicks and keep those in the car...OR put any extra non-essentials in a coordinating MightyBe.

What would you pack in addition to the cloth diapers?

The BFF can seem pretty tight for three kids...I pack for three and I can't do it, but that's because I carry a change of clothes for each and I stubbornly insist on having the clothes in the diaper bag at all times.

That was my debate too - deciding between the BP and the BFF. I have 3 kids - 2 in diapers and I saw the BFF at nordstrom and it's way smaller than I thought. I ended up ordering the BP, cause there's no way, especially for longer outings the BFF will hold what I need, and I don't think it could fit 9 cloth diapers, along with anything else you might need. My plan is to get a BP for normal to long outings and then get a BFF for short or quick outings. I get my BP tomorrow so I'll let you know if it's too huge, I'm mostly a minimalist also! Hopefully other ladies with more BFF experience can give you good advice!

I only have 1 in diapers (disposable) right now. I'm an overpacker, and the BFF is tight for our needs. I use my BP for longer outings or visiting the grandparents. The BP is big. It was my first JJB & I was so excited that I carried it as my bag for the first couple of weeks during the last month of my pregnancy  . Crazy. My midwife did comment on what a cute bag it was during my appointments though. Then when DD arrived, I realized I didn't want to lug it into the grocery store and on errands with me. I absolutely loved my BFF when it arrived. It's so convenient to use the backpack straps and be hands free.

If you're set on the BFF, could you pack extra dipes in a MB to store in the car?

The BP is really really big. I can't imagine using it as a daily diaper bag. But the BFF is a bit smaller. I wouldn't be able to fit 9 of my cloth diapers in it unless that was all I packed.
The PB would fit that though,
or you could carry the diapers on a light or MB but then you have to have 2 bags

Thanks, Ladies! :) 9 dipes would definitely be the extreme, I don't think I've ever packed more than 7 (as if that's much better  I would prefer to keep it down to 1 bag, esp. since I'll have a wetbag, too. I don't really like the PB--it seems to be very deep, and I'd like to be able to see what I need and not have to dig for it. Please correct me if I'm mistaken in my impression :D

Here's what would be in my diaper bag on a normal 2-3 hour trip: wipes travel container, 3-4 cloth diapers, 2 sippy cups and a bottle, nursing cover, 1 change of clothes for baby and extra shirt for 20-month-old, burp cloth, wetbag, a few small baby items (powder, coconut oil, sunblock)

For longer days, the only change would be more dipes and a few extra cloth wipes :D

This would fit in a BFF.. on longer outings, you could bring the surplus in a tote and refill the BFF as needed. :D

I have both the BP and BFF but only packed for 2 kiddos, 1 in diapers (disposeables). I packed a lot in my BFF but used quicks and set pieces for most things. It really helped when getting to something specific and with packing her full of stuff. I'm an overpacker BTW. I never used cloth dipes so I can't comment on that aspect. I can tell you that the BFF will hold a fuel cell though. Could you use the FC to store your cloth diapers and wet bag? You then would have the rest of the main compartment for "stuff". I also always ditched the memory foam changing pad for a light CP and used that back pocket for other items including quicks with extra diapers. I think the BFF is the best overall bag - just love mine!

Oh, the BP is great for overnights but it is pretty heavy for daily use. I tipped my stroller a couple times, especially when baby wasn't in it. The BFF never did that.

NOTE: scroll down the pics to find "option 2 with Fuel Cell". There are also some good packing pics in the IRL Gallery. Find the BFF picture gallerythe "packed" section there is a thread about 3 from the bottom where someone's packed a BFF for 3 with cloth.

I love the BFF. I don't cloth diaper, but I have to pack for a 2 year old and 6 week old and have room to spare. I use my MB with the BFF and love it. Yesterday we were out all day for a play date and then grandmas. I packed the stuff for grandmas in the MB, like jammies, and left it in the car at our play date. Worked great because my mom always has stuff for me to bring home and the MB is so stuffable, but light weight.

9 cloth diapers will not fit in a BFF. But if you really want a BFF, then get a Mighty Be to go along with it, and you can keep it in the car with all the diapers. Then you can just take 1 diaper for each kid in the BFF when you go into somewhere.

I have 2 in cloth diapers, and I use the BP. It holds everything for 8 hour days at the sitter's house. It's stuffed to the brim. But it holds everything.
4-5 OS pockets
5-6 infant prefolds
XL wetbag
cloth wipes
change of clothes for 2 kids
burp clothes
bibs
2 sippy cups
1 bottle
container of breastmilk
mommy pocket is full of pacifier, meds, diaper creme, thermometer, etc.

Yay, glad you found your perfect bag! That's my perfect bag, too... and mine's also a COB!
But I looove your pattern placement - pinwheel's my fav flower. :)

Yeah it's crazy how many cloth diapers you can stuff in the BP. I filled mine with a bunch of prefolds just to see how many it would hold - and I think it was like 15?

Great bag! Enjoy!

ETA: Oh, and super creepy, but I have the exact same nursing cover, and keep it stashed in that same pocket!

 about the nursing cover! When I was watching tons of videos trying to decide, one lady had the same cover in a BP, and I told my husband it was a sign

Well, if the video was on youtube, and it was a CoB BP, it might have been mine! ;) LOL
