 First Time Mom needs help
Hi, I'm a soon-to-be first time mom (due Dec 18th). I recently discovered Ju Ju Be bags and love them. I need help deciding which one to buy though. Any suggestions on which bag is the best for a newbie? --- I am clueless.
Thanks!

I would start with a Be Spicy and see what you need from there. The Be Spicy is good sized and can hold a lot or a little. It does start to get pretty "fluffy" if you load it up though. But at this point, you don't really know how much you will pack. I'm a total overpacker and have a baby with reflux so I pack a lot of burp diapers and spare clothes. Some people are fine to just pack a couple diapers and a blanket. I'm so not one of those.

I don't have a Be Spicy, but I've looked at it at the baby boutique by me and it does look like a great start. I started off with a BeAll and found that it just got too bulky and the flap bothered me. I am a backpack type person, so my love is the Packabe. I can pack a little or a lot in it and it doesn't get bulky. I love having my hands free to manage car seat, grocery bags, etc. I also like the versatility of the straps. I just ordered and returned a Be Right Back. It is very nice for organization of things. But I found that I couldn't pack as much in it as I can the Packabe. Although others have found they can pack the same amount. I'm not good at organization I guess.
The great thing about the JJB's and these boards, is that there are lots of ladies here to help you out. Check out the FSOT boards and you can get some good deals if you just want to try a few. If it's something you don't end up liking, you can sell them again. Or look to see if you have a retailer by you that sells them and check them out for yourself.
Everyone likes different types of bags for different reasons. Like Katrina says, it depends on how much you like to pack.
Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide.

I have the Packabe and love it! I had a bag similar to the Be All (different brand) but hated it because it used to always swing over me when I bent down to pick up my baby. I love that the backpack style keeps my hands free. Also, it holds everything I need, and I tend to overpack!
HTH!

I would try the PackaBe first! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it - and I've never liked backpacks before! The great thing is that it's not *just* a backpack - you can use it as a shoulder or messenger bag too, but when you do need your hands free, you have the backpack option. You can fit a ton in it (I can pack for 3 kids in there if I'm only going to be out for part of the day!) but it looks very nice and compact and holds its shape.

Another Packabe lover here!!! To me, it is THE perfect bag!! It's so versatile, how you can wear it as a backpack, shoulder or messenger bag. And you can fit A LOT into it without it looking or feeling bulky!!

Thanks for all your great tips! Y'all make some excellent points. I think I am leaning towards the PackaBe as my first Ju Ju Be. I like that it is more versatile --- back pack to messenger bag. Do both styles work well when attaching to the stroller?

Which syles? All of the JJB's work great on a stroller. The be connected stroller clips rock!

I'd also go with the Packabe. And if you decide it's not the bag for you, you can always sell it here and try something else (something I always tell myself!). I've also found that you will need different bags for different stages of babyhood. In the very beginning I hardly needed anything and the Be Small was perfect - throw a few diapers, burp cloths, and a paci in and I was good to go (I bf). But now with a dd who's potty training and an 8 month old who's on solids and bottles, I need a bigger bag. The BRB is what I'm using at the moment for everyday use.
Good luck! My first dd was due on 12/18 also! She came three days early on the 15th. Now she's going to turn 3....oy.

I agree with pp. A good bag to start with is either the Packabe or Be Spicy.
I am not a backpack person and I have the Packabe and love it. Plenty of space if you have a newborn and you can have your arms free if you need. I wear it messenger/tote style but I'm sure I'll wear it backpack style at some point. The Packabe is kind of the "staple" JJB bag.
I don't have a Be Spicy but I have a Be Smart. I like the features of the Be Spicy, though but I think the Be Smart works great because you can use it as your own personal non-diaper bag.
