Post Trying to decide on a diaper bag!!
Hey y'all,

I've been lurking on this site for the past month now and I finally decided to join because I need your help! My baby is due any day now and as I've been waiting for her to come, I'm trying to decide on the perfect diaper bag for me. I've watched loads and loads of bag reviews, read even more reviews, gotten super super overwhelmed with the gazillion choices in the process and yet I still keep coming back to wanting the Ju Ju Be Be Prepared bag. =p

I'm very very petite which is what worries me as I know everyone keeps saying it's huge BUT I love big purses. I'm about 5'0 (usually 5'3 - 5'4 in heels because I live in heels - I can't wait until I can start wearing them again!!). I figured if I already carried a big purse; I'm going to need an even bigger diaper bag to carry the contents of my purse AND for my baby...haha. I just love all of the features of it..and trust me, I've done my research and there's a gazillion bags out there w/ "unique" features yet this bag seems like the most usable and efficient for me out of all of them.

So my question is, does anyone on here have any pictures of it being worn? I've checked out the galleries and found the Be Prepared one really helpful but I'm trying to find it in the Earth Leather Vanilla color. I'm hoping maybe the color/print/material would make it seem less "bulky" on me. Or at this point, any other pictures of the bag in the Earth Leather colors would be great (it doesn't necessarily have to be worn). I just want to get as much information about this bag before I finally bite the bullet and order it.

Thanks for any help/advice/pictures y'all can give me and I'm excited to finally join the board. =]

Hi mama, welcome!

I am petite too and rarely actually "wear" my BePrepared because it is so big - I pretty much just carry it out to the car and then into wherever we're staying (I use mine as luggage).

Mine isn't EL, but if you like, I can get some pics of me wearing it this evening to show you just how big it really is! Let me know :)

Someone has a black EL BP as her avatar right now.....Mamabe maybe? Off to search and I'll verify :).

edit: yep, Marie (mamabe) is wearing a BP in her avatar. Should give you an idea of size. There might be more pics of it being worn in the IRL galleries, too. And to throw my vote in, my hands-down fav. bag with a newborn is a BFF. Several carrying options make it a really flexible bag to get you through all the different stages and all the pockets make grabbing what you need quickly a breeze. Oh, and welcome to the PR :D.

Welcome!! Glad you found us!!!

The Earth Leather Be Prepared in Vanilla is only available at Fred Segal/Ron Robinson and they only have a few left....it is so pretty!!! Here is a link http://www.ronrobinson.com/LIFESIZE-Ju- ... /98475.htm

The good thing about the be prepareds are that you can attach them to the stroller with stroller clips or hang it from the stroller with the messenger strap.

Congrats and have a great delivery!!!

:)R

Maya from Little Dudes and Divas has a LOT of videos posted on You Tube. I don't know how tall she is IRL, but she seems somewhat petite as well. Here's a video she did of a lot of bags worn.

If you do a search for "Little dudes and divas" and then add the bag name, you'll get lots more videos!
In all honesty, I don't carry my bags much. They end up on the stroller most of the time or they stay in the car and I just grab a Be Quick with the needed essentials. The Be Prepared is a beautiful bag though, and in earth leather it's to die for!!!
Good luck on your bag search!

I have an OB BP and Steel/Lilac BP. The steel/lilac one does look smaller in my opinion, just because the blossoms is such a big print. Prints make everything look bigger.

That being said, I use my BPs more as a travel bag. They are way too big for everyday use for me. I love carrying big purses too, but I think that a BP would be very heavy to carry around all the time.

What if you get the bp...and use quicks or a smaller bag...or something like an mb to stick inside of it to use...?

Wow! I didn't expect to get so many responses! You ladies are WONDERFUL!! =]

Lenmont: Thanks for the welcome and your post! I would LOVE to see some pictures of you wearing it if you don't mind (whenever you get a chance). Do you mind me asking how tall you are? I know the dimensions of the bag are 18.5" x 14" x 6.5" and I just measured my purse that I usually wear and it's about 15" x 10" x 7" depth. But if you're petite now I'm getting worried if you said you don't like to wear it a lot.

Soldierslady: Thank you for your welcome and for doing the search for me. I checked out her profile and it doesn't look TOO huge but maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. =p I think I'll private message her to see how tall she is. I checked out the other galleries and yet...I'm still on the fence! I love your idea about the BFF. I liked that one too but I was wondering if you can wear it shoulder style/tote style as I'm a big shoulder wearing gal. I'm not a huge huge backpack fan but I do love having an option for messenger style. By the way, the BFF is one of the bags I'm considering getting my cousin who is only due 3 months after me - I don't "THINK" she'll carry as much as I will (her handbags are usually much smaller than mine) but then again..you never know who will carry what!!

Muffinfrog: Thank you!! That is the only website I can find it on and where I'll order it but sadly there are not a lot of pictures of it on there. =[

Rosieinwyo: Thanks for your post!! I've been watching her videos like crazy the last few nights..staying up super late to do it too ahha!! I think the bag will end up in the stroller most of the of time also but I'm also trying to think about the times I will be carrying it. I'm definitely getting some be quicks to organize whatever bag I DO get! =]

Laura281: Thanks for your advice!! Wow, lucky girl to have TWO BP's!! My husband is hoping I'll only get one bag which is why I'm trying to find the perfect bag in the first go. =p I LOVE the fact that I can use it as a travel bag later on down the road which is why I like it so much. Plus, my husband is hoping we'll have more kids fairly quickly so I figured I might as well get a big bag right away. But you're right, the heaviness and bulkiness still worries me.

Ursmineandrs: That's definitely a good idea. I started to look at at JJB's to see if any of the other ones would be perfect for me to stick inside. Thank you for your idea!!

Sorry for the long responses; I'm a very wordy person. =[ Thank you so much for all of the help given so far. I'm still SO torn but I love love LOVE hearing everyone's opinions, advice and other suggestions. =]

You can wear the BFF on your shoulder tote style! The slider on the strap can go through the shoulder pad so the strap can be shortened to a more of a purse drop length. Or it can be let out so the bag carries messenger style.

The BP is a heavy bag to start with too...then you fill it up with all the stuff and it's a VERY heavy bag. Lugging that around with a small child, esp a newborn in the carseat...not gonna happen. At least not for this 5' mama! :D

All in all though, the BP is an awesome bag. Go ahead and get the one you want, then if it's doesn't work as an everyday diaper bag for you you can come back to FSOT and try something else. You'll still love having the BP for other purposes.

Welcome!

I would say to get the BP, because you clearly have done your research and that is what you want, and it will certainly hold everything you need!

BUT, I would also get a smaller bag that is easier to carry around for longer periods of time, because I think the BP will have portability issues if you don't have a stroller to attach it to or a car to keep it in. Whethere that is a BFF, a between, etc that can be up to you. I don't think hubby would mind if you had two very different bags for very different purposes. :-)

I'm 5ft as well, and certains bags when packed full (spicy for instance) are too heavy for me to really carry around- I've never tried a BP but I know it would be too heavy to tote around as a diaper bag. I am an over packer, and the bags that really work for me are the Packabe and Mightybe. Both also work with my small frame. I also light the light or between/small for very quick trips, and i can leave a bigger bag in the car with the rest of my stuff and switch things out as needed.

I have a BFF & BP and love love LOVE my BP, I use it every weekend as a diaper bag, but definitely wouldnt carry it around. I like the tween for trips when I know I will be carrying a bag. The BP is awesome though and if you plan to hook it on ur stroller it is great!

Something to think about regarding the BP on a stroller. That bag is heavy. Have I mentioned that? Unless you're using a super heavy stroller too it'll likely be tippy with a BP hooked to it. Something to think about. I know my BFF tips my lightweight stroller if I take the boy out of it and don't have anything in the basket.

Yea, it will tip if baby isnt in the stroller, I always just try to remember to take the bag off first, then take my daughter out :)
